Families can get help from one of these two ways, depending upon their needs:

1. A 2 Payment Plan is offered directly in the registration to help with the registration fees. At the end of the registration, choose the 2 payment plan option.  You'll pay half when you register and the remaining half about 30 days later. Click on the Register Button at the op of the page, and then "REGISTER A GIRL" to register.

2.  Scholarships for our program are available to a girl who needs one, thanks to generous community donations and grants. Registration Fees

Building confidence and setting young girls down the path of a healthy lifestyle is PRICELESS! However, there are real costs associated with operating our Council and delivering the Girls on the Run program to approximately 450 girls served each year. Registration is $195 per girl and includes:

  • Sessions conducted by certified GOTR volunteer coaches*
  • Curriculum and lesson materials
  • Official GOTR T-shirt
  • 5K Registration fees
  • On-site celebration
  • And more!

*Coaches access our special GOTR Learning Academy for National Coach Training, which helps them get ready to coach your girl's team, and also gives them access to tips and additional learning experiences. Coaches are provided with the materials they need to support their team.

My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! From non-runner to skilled runner, and every ability in between, girls are asked to do their best, whatever their best means to them.  And, because we are so much more than a running program, every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while engaging in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Girls can expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice. And know that when we say run, we mean run, walk, skip, roll or push, just as long as she is moving forward!

What does the program fee include?

Although our cost per participant averages $416, through generous donors we're able to offer and maintain the same program registration fee for more than ten years of $195. Your program registration fee includes all lesson materials, including a specially-designed and relevant GOTR curriculum, activity sheets, a GOTR t-shirt, registration fees and bib for the season's 5K event, and more!  (Once she starts to participate in lessons, asking your girl to describe what she's learning is a great way to stay connected to your girl and the program).

We can't afford the program registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Don't let cost stop you from participating! We are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all who want to particpate! We offer a 2-payment plan directly in the registration form.  Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, for those who need additional financial assistance, program scholarships are available. The Scholarship Registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale.  see the Financial Aid section, above).

When does the season begin?

We offer two seasons: Fall and Winter. Fall season begins in September and Winter season begins in January. Your coaches will contact you with the exact start date, as the dates vary by location. The coach will also have the date of your site's 5K event. More information will be shared by your team's coaches once the season begins.

Do girls need to attend each week?

To get the most benefit the program, YES!  Girls should attend all or almost all of the sessions offered at their site. Why? As the program moves along in the research-based curriculum, lessons build on one another, allowing girls to build trust with each other and their coaches as well as confidence in themselves.  Each lesson also helps girls build toward the successful completion of a 5K event. If you have an issue with your girl not attending, please discuss the issue with your coach.

Is there a way for me to sponsor a participant for a season?

Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3 organization, Girls on the Run relies on generous donors like you so we can provide more than $60,000 in program scholarships each year for families. Click here to sponsor a participant this season so we can provide access to every girl who desires to participate.
